Wherever you are in Cornwall, we'll match you with a vetted OZEV-approved installer working near you. Our network covers the whole county — from the Tamar to Land's End — and every installer is OZEV-authorised, BS 7671 compliant, and familiar with the quirks of Cornish supplies: long single-phase runs in rural villages, undersized service heads in older granite cottages, and the DNO process for upgrades via National Grid Electricity Distribution (formerly Western Power).
Most partners cover specific clusters of towns, which means faster surveys, cleaner quotes, and an installer who already knows your patch — whether that's a Truro townhouse, a Falmouth holiday let, or a smallholding outside Bodmin. Submit your postcode and we'll handle the match.

The questions we get most often about installing an EV charger in Cornwall.
A standard 7kW home install typically costs £800-£1,200 fitted, including a tethered or untethered unit, simple cable run and DNO notification. Smart chargers with solar diversion (Zappi, Easee Plus) tend to land at £1,100-£1,500. Three-phase 22kW installs — where the supply allows — usually run £1,800-£3,000. Long cable runs, consumer-unit upgrades or driveway trenching add to the cost; your installer will give a firm written quote after a quick remote or on-site survey.
The OZEV EV chargepoint grant is still running for renters, flat owners, and residential landlords — and from 1 April 2026 it increased from £350 to £500 per socket. Owner-occupiers in standalone houses are no longer eligible (that scheme closed in 2022). Holiday-let landlords can claim under the landlord scheme. Workplace installs use the Workplace Charging Scheme, also boosted in April 2026 to up to £20,000 per business. Your installer must be OZEV-authorised to claim the grant on your behalf — every installer in our Cornwall network is.
Most straightforward 7kW home installs take 3-5 hours on the day, from arrival to commissioning. Trickier jobs — long cable runs, consumer-unit upgrades, three-phase work, or load-balancing across multiple chargers — can run a full day or split across two visits. The pre-install survey (often remote, by photos and a few questions) takes 10-15 minutes.
For 95% of Cornwall homes, 7kW is the right answer. A 7kW charger adds around 25-30 miles of range per hour — more than enough for an overnight top-up. 22kW requires a three-phase supply, which most domestic properties don't have, and upgrading from single-phase costs thousands. 22kW makes sense for workplaces, holiday lets with high turnover, or homes that already have three-phase (rare in Cornwall — occasionally found on rural smallholdings with old commercial supplies).
All four are solid choices and your installer will fit any of them. Zappi (Myenergi, made in Stafford) is the go-to if you have solar panels — its eco modes divert spare solar into the car. Easee is compact, modular and Norwegian-built, popular for multi-charger setups. Ohme has the slickest integration with Octopus Intelligent Go for cheap overnight charging. Pod Point is the legacy UK brand — reliable, app-driven, widely supported. We can talk you through the trade-offs in the quote conversation.
Yes — the OZEV grant for renters and flat owners (now £500/socket from April 2026) is specifically aimed at this. Options include cross-pavement gullies (where the council allows), shared chargers in flat car parks, or workplace charging. We can match you with installers experienced in cross-pavement and on-street solutions — these are increasingly common across Truro, Falmouth and Penzance.
Smart EV tariffs can drop your overnight charging cost to around 7p/kWh (at the time of writing — check current rates with your supplier). Octopus Intelligent Go works directly with Ohme, Zappi, Hypervolt and several others; Octopus Go is a simpler 5-hour cheap window. Your installer can recommend a charger that's pre-approved for the tariff you want — saves a lot of faff later.
Most modern Cornish homes will. Your installer will check the main fuse rating (typically 60A, 80A or 100A), the consumer unit, and the earthing arrangement. Load-balancing chargers like Zappi and Easee can shed power dynamically to avoid tripping the main fuse — brilliant for older properties. If your supply is undersized, we can quote for a DNO upgrade. National Grid Electricity Distribution (formerly Western Power) handles this in Cornwall — usually free for the upgrade itself, but expect a wait.
Yes. Every installer in our Cornwall network is OZEV-authorised (so they can claim the grant on your behalf), works to BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 Section 722, and follows the IET Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation, 5th Edition. They're insured, NICEIC or NAPIT registered, and many also hold MCS for solar — handy if you're combining the two.
Yes. We cover home installs, holiday-let chargers (code-per-booking smart charging is increasingly the standard — guests get a unique unlock code for the duration of their stay), workplace installations under the Workplace Charging Scheme, and multi-bay commercial installs for hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions. Cornwall's tourism economy means holiday-let demand spikes hard in summer — a charger on your listing is increasingly a deal-breaker for EV-driving guests.
